David Godber developed a love of working with wood from an early age thanks in part to being the son of a woodworking teacher. His first professional foray into working with wood was as a log home builder. While building log homes, David became increasingly passionate about traditional building methods. After learning about the benefits of working with “green” wood, David built his first pole lathe and was hooked: “I love the immediacy of being able to go for a walk in the woods, choosing a tree and turning it into a chair.” The environmental aspect was also important. David only harvests local trees in a sustainable manner, and whenever possible, chooses handtools over power tools.

Using time proven techniques David is able to produce furniture that will live on to be enjoyed by future generations. SilverTree Woodworking is nestled in the Monashee Mountains of British Columbia.
